At present chemical fertilizers and pesticides are so widely used that it is not only ruining the productivity of the soil but also telling on the ecosystem. But there is a great possibility of production of food grains, fruits, live-stock etc. through integrated agriculture. The agricultural fields of north-east India are not yet polluted in a big way with artificial fertilizer and pesticides Fertilizer will be needed but we can opt for bio and natural fertilizer. Similarly pests and weeds can be controlled by Integrated Pest Management techique. Schools and colleges may act as a depository of such knowledge and teachers and students may guide the farmers. Integrated farming, organic farming, no ploughing farming are some of new thinking about production system. Such farmers avoid synthetic chemicals and they use biological manure and pesticides. They may use compost manure and while producing varities of food products in adequate quantity may leave the soil without deterioration.
