The head of the sperm containing elongated nucleus, is covered by acrosome which is filled with enzymes involved in fertilization of the ovum. If in case the sperm is devoid of acrosome, the enzymes involved in fertilization of ovum would not be present, as a result of which the sperm cannot facilitate fertilization.
